The Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Scholarship 2027 is a scholarship program for international students who plan to enroll in a Japanese university or graduate school. The Overseas Candidate program allows eligible students to apply for scholarship support before entering Japan. Applicants must independently find and apply to a Japanese university or graduate school before applying for the scholarship. At the time of application, overseas candidates must have passed the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N3 or above. Graduate applicants must also submit a recommendation letter from a supervisor or professor at their intended graduate school. For the 2027 intake, applications are open for students planning to begin studies in April 2027 or September/October 2027. Undergraduate scholars receive ¥100,000 per month, while Master's and Doctoral scholars receive ¥140,000 per month. Successful overseas candidates may also receive a travel subsidy of up to ¥250,000 toward eligible expenses for travelling to Japan. The scholarship is a grant and does not require repayment. However, entrance fees and tuition are not covered, so applicants should consider their university funding and other financial arrangements separately.
