The Max Planck School Matter to Life Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (MtL-URO) 2027 offers exceptional undergraduate students the opportunity to complete a 10-week funded research internship in Germany. The programme is designed for students interested in interdisciplinary research connecting areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, informatics, materials science, engineering and related fields. Selected students join a Matter to Life faculty laboratory and work on a specific research question under the supervision of local researchers. The internship can be completed between June and November 2027, with applicants indicating their availability through the application portal. The programme provides financial support including travel to and from the student's home country, accommodation and a monthly allowance for day-to-day expenses. Applications for the 2027 internship cycle are open from 1 August to 1 October 2026. The programme is conducted entirely in English, and an official English-language certificate is not required. Previous research experience is also not required because students receive training in the methods needed for their project. Applicants must remain enrolled in their undergraduate studies throughout the entire internship and meet the programme's academic requirements. Selected candidates are expected to receive their results by February 2027.
